Since our Valentine weekend plans got canceled, Terry asked me what I wanted. That answer was easy and one that money can't buy, just him. The only thing I wanted was to spend the entire day with him doing the things we love. We had already planned to take today off with the other plans, so we decided to spend the day in Jackson. And just let me say, today has been a g-r-e-a-t day! The best Valentine's Day, yet!
The day started off a little late because we enjoyed sleeping in, that's right — no alarm clock. And once he got in the shower, I quietly went in the kitchen to cook his favorite breakfast.
Bacon and cheesy browns (aka hashbrowns smothered in cheese). I think he was pleasantly surprised, but I'm sure he could smell it once he got out of the shower.
After we were ready to go, off we went to Jackson. Only we decided to pass through Jackson and head over the mighty Mississippi to pick up some Lotto and Powerball tickets in Louisiana.
The water was a little low but it was great to see the American flag flying on this beautiful day.
By the time we were headed back to Jackson, it was time for lunch. We had been wanting to eat at Five Guys for awhile and it was just as we expected, wonderful.
And, it just so happened that Five Guys was a hop, skip and a jump from one of my favorite stores, Sephora!! So, I got a few "happies" from there to help celebrate the day.
No Jackson visit is complete without a stop in Target.
And usually a stop in Target means a purchase! And I got another Vday "happy" — a spring pan. I've been wanting to make some homemade cheesecakes, but I didn't have the proper pan. Now, I do and you can bet on it that there will be a recipe coming soon!! =)
Now, don't think that Terry didn't get to pick places to go, too. Going to Louisiana was something he wanted to do, plus, we stopped in at the Harley Davidson store in Jackson and went to Vans. (If you have a man that hunts or loves guns, there is no explanation needed, there.)
Our little day trip was coming to an end, but not before stopping in for dinner.
Zack Garvins is usually only open during the weekend, but Terry called and found out ahead of time that they were opening up for Valentine's night. If you've been there, you know why we continue to go back. And even though we were stuffed, we had to share this...

Grand Slam pie! Let me make your mouth water a little: it's a chocolate crust with cheesecake for the filling, topped with brownie bites, caramel and white chocolate AND it has a snicker like layer with whipped cream on top. Yep, it will make you slap your mama!!! We did our best to finish it off, but had no luck. It was divine and we will be partaking in that little piece of heaven, again!
Even with all the fun this day brought, it would not have been the same without my love.
He is my best friend, soul-mate, love of my life and better half. I don't remember life without him and can't imagine my future if he's not in it. Terry, every day you still give me butterflies and I thank God that almost two years ago, you changed my life for the better. I love you and thank you for a perfect and amazing Valentine's Day.
