Saturdays are never the same in this house well, except for the morning routine. There is always breakfast on Saturday mornings, after we finally crawl out of the bed, which is never before 7:30 or 8.
After having pancakes for breakfast, we went down to the shop to work. You remember the monsoon we had Tuesday night that lasted well into Wednesday morning? Well, that nine inches of rain the good Lord blessed us with caused a little bit of a mud pit down at the shop. And because of the heavy downpours, the mud pushed it's way under the shop's garage door — covering all 1000 sq. ft. of it. So today, we spent over two hours shoveling mud out of the shop and working to make it where it won't come in again — at least not for another week or two before the cement truck comes to fix this problem. We worked hard and will pay for it tomorrow, but it was great working together as a team.
After we peeled all the mud off of us (from head to toe) it was time to R-E-L-A-X and eat Jelly Beans, of course. Seriously, if you haven't tried the Starburst Jelly Beans — your missing out!! We watched a few movies and then it was time — time to fire up the grill!!!
I love when we cookout. It's always a team effort... all the way down to the homemade french fries. We buy our potatoes at Sams and the best potatoes to make our fries are the big, mama jama baking potatoes. After I peel them, we use our french fry cutter from Bass Pro to make sure all are the same thickness.
And after they come out of the hot fry daddy, I hit them with some garlic salt. If you've never used garlic salt on fries, then you're missing out! Try it and let me know how you like it.
After the fries get started, Terry puts the burgs on the grill....
He has his own special seasonings that he puts on them. I usually leave him to this since he knows what he is doing. While they were grilling and the fries were finishing up, we decided to toss the football around. Hey, your never too tired for a little bit of fun!
When they came off the grill and the fries were finished, it was time to dress them. Last weekend, I found a new kind of sliced cheese — American Jalapeno. LOVE it! It added the perfect amount of "heat" to the burger and it was delicious!!
So yummy and the perfect meal for this spring like day. What are some of your favorite things to grill?
Hope y'all have enjoyed your day!!
You are such a talented cook! Thank you for always sharing your recipes! We had hamburgers too for dinner but with jalapeno cheese dip! I must try your fries! All I need is a fry cutter! Have a great rest of the weekend!
