As you read in the previous post, we were in Birmingham over the weekend. Our main reason for the visit — Terry gave some of his customers tickets to the Nationwide Race at Talladega to watch the Fastenal car, #60 driven by Carl Edwards.
Fastenal employees and customers started the day in the hospitality suite where they had breakfast and met with vendors. And before lunch was served, Carl Edwards stopped in to speak and shake hands with the employees and customers before qualifying for the next day's race and attending their drivers meeting. Terry said he got to shake hands with him, but because he was in a rush to qualify (weather kept them from it the day before) he didn't get a picture with Carl.
After lunch, it was time to "boogity, boogity, boogity!"
And, of course, a few pit stops during the race.
Carl and the Fastenal car finished 17th after leading some of the race. He would have finished 5th or 6th, but he got caught up in the wreck during the last lap. Kyle Busch ended up winning.
This was Terry's first NASCAR race and I think he enjoyed it. Guess I'm not the only great photographer in the family, all of these pictures were taken by him!
I stayed at the Van Doren's house and caught up on some reading and visiting. If Terry goes next year, he said he plans to take me, too!
Such a great track to visit on your first race! I've only been to Talledega and Atlanta. I think I prefer Atlanta, but it's b/c of the bathrooms! haha
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and Carl is oh, so dreamy! :o)
