Have you ever seen something blossom in front of your eyes and think to yourself, "why didn't I think of that?" Well, that is exactly what Terry and I have been talking about here lately. And the subject is Dollar General. There have been quite a few "D.G.'s" popping up all over the place.
Until the last couple of years, you only saw D.G.'s in towns and cities. It didn't matter how small the town was or big the city was — each one had a D.G. And now, D.G.'s are popping up in communities — Vimville, Clarkdale, Centerhill, Enterprise.
We shop at the Vimville D.G. at least once a week. As a matter of fact, I haven't been in any WalMart since 2010. And yes, that is something I'm very proud of! D.G. has everything anyone could ever need. Everything except, Dale's Seasoning. That is the only thing we have been in search for and asked and they told us they didn't carry it.
The normal D.G. run usually costs $20 to $25. Of course, last Saturday we exceeded that by a few dollars. We figured out the reason — the buggy. We got a buggy. We went up and down every isle because we weren't sure what all we needed. We tossed in a little of this and a little of that and the grand total came to... $99! I think we were both speechless when she told us the total. But, paying that is worth it. It's convenient, it's quick, it's full of everything we need and it's not WalMart! They do carry meat, but I buy our meat at Winn Dixie. There is just something about buying meat at Dollar General that I'm not comfortable with.
Now, back to blog title. Whoever came up with the idea of branching out of towns and cities had the right idea. Friday night's or Saturday morning use to be spent in town fighting the crowds and rude people who always seem to find their way down every isle you go down and now, if need be, it's just a short 5 minute drive to the D.G. and home within 30 minutes. No more walking a mile to the back of the store for diary products, no more thinking WalMart has the best prices... because it's only a few steps to the cooler for the diary products, D.G.'s prices are the same or even cheaper and they accept coupons!
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and check out your local D.G. — and if you don't have one in your community yet, just wait... like I said, they are popping up every where!
Happy Shopping, Y'all!!
I LOVE Dollar General! You would've thought it was Christmas when they opened one out here in Lauderdale!
ReplyDeleteI love the one out by the house. Last trip to the beach we counted 30 of them. Great place.
