My Best Friend's Wedding

Friday, June 3, 2011

On 06/03/06, one of my best friends, Lauren, married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life.  I remember her beach wedding like it was yesterday.  And it was perfect — even with the hiccups of the day.

The night before the wedding, we had the rehearsal & dinner on the beach and I'll never forget the "practice" bouquet she carried — broccoli.

The morning of the wedding — we went to the beach to get a little more of that sun kissed look before going to get our hair done.  And, oh, how I remember that drive to get our hair done.  You know — when you're having a destination wedding, you really just have to hope and pray the person you're going to use knows what they are doing.  So, Lauren sat in the chair first — and we made the lady redo her "do" twice!  And while she was getting her hair done — the florist called.  Well, first mistake was she called THE BRIDE on her wedding day.  Needless to say, my protective side came out in full force and I was a little "rude" to the lady.  I pretty sure I also threatened her life, but she is probably still alive somewhere making hideous floral arrangements!  Now, it was my time in the chair — let's just say she obviously didn't understand when we said the wedding is ON THE BEACH!  You know, it's a little breezy on the beach.  So — we had to make a stop in Winn-Dixie for me to get some bobby pins to redo my hair, yes, in the Winn-Dixie bathroom!  And in full tow was Lauren in her tiara.  Since we had a feeling the bouquets were going to be, well, hideous — we bought flowers there, too to take back, just in case.

Once back to the condo — my mom and Lauren's mom would NOT let us see her bridal bouquet.  They just took the flowers we bought and completely redid the arrangement for her.  Needless to say, it was beautiful after they got finished with it.

While we were getting ready, there were a few nosy people who thought they were going to get a sneak peek at the bride before she walked down the isle, and since Lauren didn't want that — I made sure that DIDN'T happen!

Time for the wedding and it was just me, Lauren and the photographer in the condo.  I drove her, in her massive, gorgeous gown, to the place where the wedding was going to take place and then it was time.

The wedding was beautiful and perfect for the couple.  After the ceremony and pictures on the beach it was time to celebrate!

Lauren, I hope your five year anniversary is exactly what you want it to be.  You and Jeremy are such a sweet little couple and I was so happy to be a part of y'alls beautiful wedding weekend.  And tomorrow, we get to celebrate you're sweet baby boy's first birthday!!  I can't wait!!  Happy Anniversary!  We love y'all!!

***Forgive all the pictures, I left my camera in Jackson that weekend and had to buy disposal cameras for the weekend.***
