Two houses becoming one

Monday, July 18, 2011

Let me start by saying that I have moved a total of 4 times since 2001 — apartment, rental house, first purchased home and here to my second purchased home.  And with every move, there is that feeling of "how in the world did I collect so much stuff?"  Well, this is the first time that I'm experiencing two houses becoming one.  We started getting ready for this a couple of months ago starting with his house.  Today, I started on mine.  And I'm no where near being done.  This evening, I tackled the master closet, the guest room closet, a hall closet and the laundry room.  Well, here is my pile of things to be donated so far...

About ten pairs of shoes, two huge mounds of clothes with old curtains, sheets, jackets, etc. piled in with it.  Did I mention, I'm not done yet?

Today I had that feeling that I could have possibly been on "hoarders" within the next ten years.  No, my house isn't nasty or dirty, but the collection of clothes, shoes, etc that I do not wear... well, it was way over time for them to be gone.

Not to mention, it felt good to get things organized again.

And now, I have three shelves for my shoes and Terry will have two shelves for his shoes!

A view of the back of the master walk-in closet.
Bring on tomorrow!  =)

  1. I honestly thought that was a blender at first, so that led me to start wondering what kind of wild parties Joy's throwing in her closet. Then I realized it was a camplight.
