Another chapter ends

Today is a bittersweet day.  After fifteen years of being an employee of Fastenal, today was Terry's last day.  However, this decision didn't happen over night.  After much thought and the weighing of the pros and cons, he came to a decision to look for another job.  Fortunately, he didn't have to wait long because the right job was waiting on him.  And after having interviews and meetings over a months time with his new company, he took their offer and gave his two weeks notice. 

With today being his last day as General Manager at Fastenal MEMS, his regional boss and I decided to do something nice for his last day.  While he took him to lunch, I came in with the cake, etc. to surprise him when they returned.

He is very excited as another chapter begins on Tuesday with Jasper Engines.  And I'll be even happier when September 24th comes around because he will be finished with his training seminars.  Overall, we both felt this was the right move and we are excited to see what all is in store with this new company. 

Today was bittersweet because Fastenal is a great company.  It was the first job Terry had out of college and he progressed with the store as the company grew.  Not many people can say they have been with the same company for fifteen years.  However, he was ready for a change, a new adventure in his career, and he felt this was the time to make that move. 

A few of you have known about this decision for a few weeks.  Thanks for your encouraging thoughts, words and prayers — it really means a lot and we are very thankful for supportive family and friends.
