Birmingham Eats... Flip Burger Boutique

Saturday, March 31, 2012

I love a Saturday that starts out lazy and then the day completely changes into a little adventure. You'll have to stay tuned to see what our big adventure was on this gorgeous Saturday on a later post. Now, back to Flip Burger.

The Summit is like a big amusement park for adults. You'll find endless amounts of shopping, some of the amazing restaurants and once you finally find a parking place you will never move from it until it's time to go, therefore you will get lots of exercise by walking to all the fun boutiques and eateries.

Since we will be making Birmingham our new home, I thought it was time to start trying out new restaurants — there are so many choices, we might find a new one for every week of the year. My heart wanted The Cheesecake Factory, however I really wanted to try something different. We've seen Flip Burger a few times during our searches for parking spaces and today was the day we decided to try it out.

As you can image from the name, they serve burgers — only it's not just beef burgers, they have tuna burgers, chicken burgers, etc. I went for the classic (I know, I need to branch out a little more) but y'all will be proud of this — it comes with their signature sauce (which is really just their homemade thousand island dressing) and I kept it on the burger and it was delicious!! I also had a side of their homemade fries. The Mr. opted for the same except with all the trimmings on the burg. It was a treat to try a new take on a old favorite.
We chose to sit outside and enjoy the delightful view. Today's weather was perfect for dining on the patio and I hope for more days like today as we explore our new city. And if you haven't tried Flip Burger Boutique... I think it's a perfect place to have a lunch date. Happy eating!!

Bye Bye WEEDS

Thursday, March 29, 2012

I loath yard work. Let me clarify... I despise anything that makes me sore the next day and I hate WEEDS!!! I don't mind cutting the grass during the months the pollen doesn't aggravate my sinuses and I love to have a yard full of colorful flowers and a porch of large ferns, but I would love it if I could snap my fingers and it all be done. Our poor flower beds have been neglected for many months due to our recent bliss and now that things have settled down (for the moment) it was time to clean out the beds!

I solicited the help of my mother, seeing as I didn't get that ever so green thumb of hers. When I asked her exact words were, "really, today?" However, she (and MB) graciously came over late yesterday and helped me dig out the weeds (that were covering my blooming gerber daisies) and put pine straw out. I'm pretty sure she did more work that I did, because little Mar Belle came over to visit, too!! But, after a few grueling hours of hard work and a lot of me complaining... they are back looking like they did when I first moved in back in 2007!

I could slap myself for not taking before shots, but I'm pretty sure a few of you can imagine what a flower bed full of neglect and weeds looks like. Here are the after shots!

Across the miles

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Earlier this year, one of my best friends moved quite a few hundred miles away. I knew that with her having an almost two year old and with all the miles between us, it would be hard for her to attend our home reception. But, boy was I wrong... SHE CAME!!! And it made the reception even sweeter!

You see, we've been best friends since we were three. We haven't missed much of each others lives and we plan to keep it that way. So seeing her, her little boy Asa and her mom walk through the door was the best feeling ever! I'm so glad we got this picture!!

A day on the catamaran...

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

We received lots of amazing wedding gifts and each one means something to us. This was a short lived gift, but the memories from this gift and day will never fade away. Thanks again Lauren, Jeremy and Asa for this one of a kind gift! We enjoyed it more than you'll ever know!!

Our Jamaican Wedding

Sunday, March 18, 2012

On Monday, March 12th, in a beautiful French garden, Terry and I said our vows, exchanged wedding rings and were pronounced husband and wife. Our day was perfect and the memories we shared that day we will treasure for a lifetime.  Our photographer took over 230 photos (we picked 110)... and there is no way I can put them all on here, but I did want to share with y'all some of our favorites. =)

Walking down the isle...
Placing his ring on his finger...
First kiss as husband and wife...
Our rings...
It's official... we are Mr. and Mrs. Terry Sowell...
