The weekend where I got beautified...

Monday, February 4, 2013

The less you expect, the more pleasant life gets. #lifelessons

{Friday} afternoons around 4 or 4:30, our office has "happy hour" where the beer, wine, and the hard stuff is supplied. Now, I participate, but I don't drink (I usually have a diet pepsi)! This is just a time for us to get together to ease the stress lever before we head home to start our weekend! And this past Friday, I realized how much I love "happy hour" — we goof off, laugh, and learn more about each other which I think brings us a little closer as a company. (Well, those of us who participate, that is!) Does you're company do this?

I knew Friday night was date night, and before I left the office the Mr sent me a text and suggested we have a pizza delivered for date night. Hey, that was perfect to me!

It was me that night that asked for an early bedtime... and yes, it was only 8:15. And eleven glorious hours later, we rolled out of bed! #heavenly

{Saturday} morning after being lazy on a sunny, yet extremely cold morning, I got ready to get my hair did. That's right, bye bye roots. It's amazing how quickly my hair grows because it's only been six weeks and it looked like this before I got it colored... eek! (The Mr calls me "skunk" when this happens.)

And, it's always wise to leave a little early no matter where you are headed in Alabama, cause train tracks are everywhere.

Once I finished up with my hair appointment(I was early and she was waiting for me, double win) I stopped and picked us up some lunch before heading back him to get back in pjs!

Of course, the pjs didn't stay on long. Before long it was time to head to get a mani and pedi!! And once I was all relaxed and limp, I headed out to Target and realized it was raining, and really cold! But finding these babies in Target warmed my soul.... (we love these! #FaveREDs)

Dinner was good and hot... homemade beef stew and it was perfect for a cold, nasty rainy night.

Before we headed off to bed, we watched The Five Year Engagement. Cute movie, but not really what we were both expecting.

{Sunday} morning we broke tradition. No cinnamon rolls for us... the Mr went out and brought breakfast home, Jack's!! Their chicken biscuit is the best!

After breakfast, we watched a movie we DVR'd earlier in January, What To Expect When You're Expecting. We'd talked about watching it a few times, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to watch it. Well, I'll be honest, I cried through 3/4 of it, but I'm glad we watched it. It makes me realize just how much we do really want to have a baby, and that we won't stop until we have a sweet little baby as part of our family!

We knew we would want to watch the #superbowl, not only for football's biggest game of the year, but also because we love the commercials. And I knew I wanted to make a version of my brownie bites, with a different shape and decor for the game. Thankfully, I talked the Mr into going to the grocery store for me. #hereallyisthebest

These bites are really easy to make, and they're always gone within seconds of me putting them out! Here are my mini football brownie bites for #superbowl2013...

And I had some icing leftover, so I left the Mr a sweet message to see after he came in from grilling...

Some of my favorite commercials of the night...
• Budweiser Clydesdales
• Doritos
• Best Buy
• The Big Bang Theory

Did y'all see the fight in the 2nd quarter... boy oh boy! The best part of watching the game at home, the Mr and I enjoyed watching from the comfort of our pjs and could pause whenever we wanted to.

Y'all have a good weekend? We enjoyed getting to see sunshine for a change!!
I'm ready for another weekend already!

  10. I want to encourage you to watching Facing the Giants. It's a religious movie filmed by a church in Georgia. It touches on how nothing is impossible with God and a side story is the couple's desire to have children. Even if you have to buy it, trust me on this...you will watch it over and over again. It's mainly about a high school football coach and how he changes the team by the power of Christ and..well, I won't give the rest away but please please please watch it. You really will fill a renewed spirit and realize that nothing is impossible with God!!!
