Happy One Year Anniversary to US!

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Can y'all believe it's been a year ago since the Mr and I said our "i do's" in a beautiful french garden in Jamaica? Well, it has, and today I wanted to recap our beautiful wedding day with y'all!!

You might be wondering why we chose Jamaica for our location. Well, it's simple. We wanted a wedding that was beautiful, peaceful and something that we would always remember, fondly. You see I knew we would be moving a few short weeks after our wedding, and let's face it, that's enough stress for anyone. So we decided that a destination wedding was our answer to a stress-free wedding. All the arrangements (ceremony, photography, flowers, music, food, etc.) were made in one hour over the phone with the wedding coordinator at the resort a month before our wedding date, and our travel agent handled the rest. The only thing we had left to do was pack our suitcases, board the plane, and get MARRIED!!!

The Wedding...

The day of our wedding (March 12th) we woke up and sunned on the beach until lunch. After enjoying a quick lunch at one of the seven restaurants at the resort, we went our separate ways to get ready for the ceremony. The Red Lane Spa, did my makeup, hair and nails, and made sure I was quite relaxed throughout the process. And at exactly 4 o'clock, I walked down to marry the man of my dreams.

The ceremony and the vows were traditional, with the ceremony being performed by a baptist minister from Jamaica. I carried two dozen beautiful creme roses tied with turquoise satin ribbon. And just like any traditional baptist wedding... it was short, and sweet!

After the "i do's" and we were presented as Mr and Mrs Terry Sowell... we had our first dance in the beautiful garden to Norah Jones' Come Away With Me. Our cake was chocolate with buttercream icing, and we toasted with some tasty champagne.

The photographer took over 300 photos, and we honestly loved all of them! They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, and that's a great thing because after our reception it started raining.

Once the shower ended, we walked out on the beach to take the rest of our photos.

After the photo shoot, we headed back to our suite to change for our first dinner as husband and wife. We enjoyed our wedding dinner on a private pier overlooking the ocean with a four course meal.

It truly was the best day of my life!

Happy Anniversary to the man I love more than anything in this world. I can't wait to celebrate the next 70+ years with you. I loved you yesterday, I love you more today, and know that my love for you will continue to grow with every passing day! Thank you for making me the happiest girl in the world!!

Love, your wife!
