My home town — Meridian, Mississippi

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Y'all I'm so excited to be linking up with Heather and Ashley for their first ever...

This link up is all about your home town. It's to give insight to other bloggers about where you are from, and who knows, they might want to visit your home town one day.

So for starters... I live in Alabama now. And yes, that would make us transplants. Since we've only lived here for about 9 months, I don't consider this my home town, yet. When I think of my home town, I think of Meridian, Mississippi. Yep, I'm a Mississippi girl just like Heather.

I guess I should show y'all where Meridian, Mississippi is...

It's really not too far from where we live now, just a little over two hours to get "home" if we aren't obeying the speed limit. Ha!

We have some pretty famous people from Meridian...

Sela Ward
Jimmie Rodgers — the Father of Country Music
and we even had a Miss America from Meridian... Susan Akin.

And we have a lot of talent to perform at the MSU Riley Center... I've personally seen Boyz II Men and Trisha Yearwood.

My favorite places to eat aren't chain restaurants...

Weidmann's
Ole Farm Beef House
and you can find a Mexican restaurant on any corner. However, our favorite is San Marcos.

Each summer, the State Games of Mississippi is hosted in Meridian. The event takes place almost the entire month of June and kicks off with fireworks and a parade.

But possibly my most favorite part of Meridian, is the fact that most of my family and friends live there.

Y'all go check out this cute link up, and see what everyone is having to say about their home town.

  5. One of my favorite parts about traveling is finding the "local places" rather than chains. I could definitely see myself going to places like Weidmanns to better experience the city! I love that you all have State Games, I don't think we have anything like that here! :)

  7. Local places are great! Husband and I decided that if we ever receive a large amount of money for some reason, we're going to drive around the lower 48 US States and only eat at local restaurants.
