Friday night after work, we headed to Sears to buy some supplies for the next day. We had yard work to do, and had a massive playground set to take down. Which is why we headed to Sears, we needed a saw! Anyway, after our quick shopping excursion, we picked up Cracker Barrel for take out and enjoyed dinner at home. A quick change into pjs, and it was time for some light reading while the Mr watched a movie...
Saturday was beautiful here in the The Ham. So after getting juiced up and ready to go (OJ for me and chocolate milk for the Mr), we went outside to enjoy the beautiful morning, and we stayed outside doing a lot of yard work all. day. long. Which resulted in me looking like a lobster, and the Mr being pretty sore. I pretty much asked for it, y'all. I had on a tank top, and no sunscreen. We went out at 9 a.m. and I told him I would cut the grass if he would edge. We made a great team, and knocked out the front yard in less than an hour. Then we moved to the back yard where we had a massive playground to take down, and a trampoline to remove. ***These items were left after the previous homeowner moved.*** Around 2 p.m. the Mr told me I needed to get inside because I was a tad bit red. However, I was nasty with dust, dirt, and grass, so I decided to shower before doing anything else. Well.... I was burnt.... EXTREMELY burnt! We're talking hurting burnt. And at 9:30 that night, the Mr had to run to the store to get me something to help relieve my pain.
Sunday I woke up in pain like I figured I would. You see I'm a side or stomach sleeper, and considering that all my sunburn is on my shoulder, chest and arms... there was NO sleeping unless I was flat on my back. I woke up rather early, and decided to get up and start the day. And sense I couldn't stand to have anything touching my skin that was burned... we stayed in pjs all day. And I kept the green stuff plastered to me at all times. I was a sticky mess. But we did enjoy watching movies, SNL reruns, and I did get some more reading finished.
All in all, it was a great weekend, except for the lapse in judgement on my part. And don't worry, I don't need a lecture about this either because the Mr has already done this! =)
How was your weekend? I can tell you that we weren't the only ones who worked in their yards this weekend, and I'm not the only one burnt. I came in the office yesterday to see many red faces. =)

Bless your heart! I hate you got burnt but it sounds like y'all had a productive and enjoyable weekend. My weekend was fun because I had lots of things planed: Zumba party Friday night, family cook out Saturday night, and volunteered at the theatre on Sunday... Busy weekends make them go by too fast!! Why can't we have 3 day weekends!? Seriously I'd be a happier more productive person :) Have a great day lady!
ReplyDeleteBeing burnt is the worst! I always have one good burn a year thanks to my Irish ancestors! We have some serious yard work to do!
ReplyDeleteOuch! I hate sunburn, and it inevitably happens to everyone once a year even when you're careful. I'm glad you guys got so much done. I did my yard good this weekend too! More to do, of course. Isn't there always?
ReplyDeleteI have a one shoulder sun burn that looks awful! Hope yours gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteOH no that shoulder looks painful!!! Poor Joy!!! I need to see pics of all the yard work y'all did!
ReplyDeleteOuch! As a fellow very white girl- I know how bad those burns can hurt. Lots of aloe!! :)
ReplyDeleteI had a lapse in judgement too. It was the first warm day here in MS and I was volunteering at an event and decided to wear shorts for the first time this season... fail. I stand where my knees bend back a lot (hyper-extend) and the entire portions of the backs of my knees were miserably burnt!!! I couldn't cross my legs, bend my knees under me, or anything for a few days! Hope you get to feeling better and be sure to wear your sunscreen next time, that's what I'm doing! :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh girl, that sunburn! :(
ReplyDeleteBanana Boat aloe lotion is the best! Takes the sting out, moisturizes your skin instead of drying out like most aloe gels do. I swear by it in the summer!
