Our weekend in an instagram...

Monday, June 17, 2013

Once the wheels on the SUV started turning Friday afternoon, we knew the entire weekend we would be hot on the road. But that's usually the case when we head back to our hometown in Mississippi.

We pulled in Meridian around 6:30 and headed straight to dinner at Outback. We were celebrating Father's Day and the June birthdays with my husband's side of the family. And let's just say that dinner was de-licious. Who says no to Aussie Cheese Fries or Alice Springs Chicken? Yeah, me neither! But, don't take my word for it... the pictures speak for themselves.

After dinner we headed back to the in-laws house to enjoy birthday cake. Of course, I'll need to explain the cake. The Mr and I are Mississippi State fans... always have been, always will be. His brother, who also has a birthday in June, is a Black Bears fan. So you guessed it, a house divided cake for our birthdays. And we got to spend some time with our nieces, too.

We didn't get to my parent's house until really late. Which meant by the time we got to bed, it was 11pm. But, we had to get our lovin from MB before heading off to bed.

Saturday morning, we didn't wake up until 9:30. Yeah, that's really late for us. But after some pancakes, and MB belly rubs... mom and I headed off for some fun in the sun. I spent every summer at this pool growing up, and it had been 4 years since I took a dip in the pool. Funny that when I was younger it was all about the swimming, diving board, slide and pool games. This time, it was all about getting a tan and reading, with the occasional dip in the pool to cool off.

After a quick lunch and a run to town for some light shopping, we were back at my parent's house for a yummy cookout. We had steaks, baked potatoes, salads, corn on the cob, baked beans, and fried squash! Sooo much food, but soooo good.

After dinner, mom and I went to see my granny. And I can honestly say that I saw every family member on both sides of the family, except three.

Once we got back from visiting... it was time for dessert. And not just any kind of dessert, I'm talking a Dairy Queen ice cream cake!!

And if there was any question on whether MB was spoiled this weekend, well, just see for yourself. She had everyone's plate of ice cream cake treed. And yes, she got some of the vanilla cream!

Sunday morning we headed over to see the Mr's dad for Father's Day, and then headed up to DeKalb to see my dad's side of the family. We usually only get together three times a year, so we never miss an opportunity to spend time with everyone. We had lunch at the Kozy Kitchen in their new location.

We headed back to papaw's house after lunch to enjoy everyone's company before it was time for the Mr and I to head back to Alabama. These are just a few of our scenes on the way back to The Ham.

But don't worry, there's a full recap of Father's Day tomorrow on the blog! #familypictureoverload

How was your weekend?

  1. haha I love that before and after dinner plate shot! Clearly it was yummy! I am dying for some poolside fun this summer. I miss being able to just walk right out my front door and lay by the pool while I read and fall asleep. I knew I was going to miss those days! I love that picture of Terry with your dad; that is a great photo of them talkin’, and of course I love the family photo with Miss MB. She is definitely a star lol Y’all had a crazy weekend too! You must be exhausted today after all of the socializing!
