The Father's in my life...

Sunday, June 16, 2013

When I was a child, the only father I knew was my dad. He let me take naps with him, held me when I didn't feel like walking anymore, and made sure I had everything I needed growing up. Most will tell you I'm a daddy's girl, and I don't take shame in that. I always did and always will look up to this man I call my dad. He was a great role model to show me what kind of man I should marry. I might be getting closer to another birthday here in my thirties, but he still sees me as his little girl. And I can't wait to one day be able to see my dad holding our child and his grandchild. I know that he will spoil that little one even more than me.

A few years later, I came to know my Heavenly Father. One that knew me before I was even thought of, and who has my life planned out for me. While I can't see Him, I know He is in my heart. He has blessed my life and continues to walk with me daily. I don't know what my future holds, but I do know who holds my future. I can't wait to see it all revealed to me in time.

Many years later, I met my husband and was introduced to his father. He didn't become my father-in-law for a few years, but I'm thankful for his encouragement and love that he shows us. He raised a mighty fine young man who I'm so blessed to call my husband, and for that I'll forever be indebted.

In 2012 I married the most wonderful man, and later that year, he became a dad. No, he didn't get a chance to hold our baby... but as soon as that pregnancy test read "pregnant" he took on a new title. I will never have to worry about what kind of father he will be because I see it in his eyes everyday. I've seen him around other's sweet little ones, and I know he will be the most loving and ever attentive dad that he can be. Our first baby wasn't held by his or her daddy, but by his or her Heavenly Father. I know God will bless us with a little one again, and I can't wait for the day when I get to see that tiny hand wrap around his or her daddy's finger.

Happy Father's Day, y'all. Enjoy celebrating the day with the fathers in your life!
