My Birthday Dinner with Plain Chicken

Monday, July 1, 2013

When the Mr asked me what I wanted for my birthday a few weeks ago and I told him nothing. Cause know you know, when your 32 (that's right Taylor, 32) the things you want in life can't really be bought. So we decided to go out to eat to celebrate.

Fast forward to Sunday before last... Stephanie from Plain Chicken tweeted about a photo I had just posted of our dinner. ***Now, if you aren't already following Plain Chicken, stop reading and do so. Then come back and finish this post.*** Anyway, back to the story. Her comment was "we'll be right over" and y'all know I'm a born and raised southern lady, and we welcome anyone to our table. So I told her that we'd have to plan a dinner together soon. Well, through the course of some emails, she mentioned that she and her husband would be at Chuy's that Thursday night (my birthday, but she didn't know that) if we wanted to join them. I'm pretty sure when I read that email, all our neighbors heard me squeal with excitement.

Some background information for you — I've been following Stephanie's blog since I start blogging back in 2009. She has THE best recipes with minimal ingredients, and easy to follow directions. You might remember some of these recipes that I've blogged about before: crockpot potato soup, sausage biscuit bites, and sooo much more! Needless to say, the Mr is happy I follow her blog because she always gives us something new to try.

Back to the email she sent... I made sure the Mr didn't have anything planned special for my birthday dinner, and emailed her back that we were game.

Stephanie and her hubby got to Chuy's a little before us and grabbed an outside table so we could enjoy the views. Even though it was 150° with the humidity, we had a wonderful time chatting and enjoying the scenery. Over drinks, the guys had their own conversation going, and I got some wonderful cooking and blogging tips from Stephanie. Of course, we enjoyed conversation together, and if you've ever had a conversation with me, you know that I can jump from point a to point d then back to point b — I'm all over the place!

We ordered our dinner, and three out of four went with the Deluxe Chicken Quesadilla. They were delicious, and the perfect portion. And, since it was my birthday, they brought out a little birthday dessert.

After a night full of laughter, food, and fun — and not to mention losing about 5 pounds each from all the sweating, it was time to say our goodbyes. But not before commemorating the night with photos.

It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. Not only did we enjoy the food, atmosphere and the conversations, but we walked way with a new friendship! Thanks again Stephanie and Tadd for a wonderful evening!
