Henson/Sowell Family Pictures

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

I'm a photographer. I think pictures are important. And anytime our family is all together, I make sure it's captured through the lens of a camera. Most of the time, those pictures don't involve having everyone in them, because someone has to push the button, right? Well this time, I invested in a wireless remote so our family pictures were complete.

Getting a seven month old to look at the camera when no one is behind it can be interesting. But we did manage to get a couple of family shots where she was looking. Of course before I could be in the pictures, I had to make sure the lighting, and settings were okay. This was the first time I tackled being photographer and subject, but I'm so happy with the outcome of the pictures! Enjoy!!

AC's First Zoo Experience...

Monday, September 29, 2014

We had a busy weekend, but it was also extremely fun, too. My family was in town for the weekend, and we enjoyed spending time with them.

I'm starting backwards and going forward with the posts about our weekend, and first up is our trip to The Birmingham Zoo. This was AC's first time to experience anything like this, and it was fun to see her reactions.

We can't wait to go back and let her experience all the fun and sites, again!!

Maroon Friday

We LOVE our football, especially our Mississippi State football team! And getting AC dressed and ready to cheer for our boys is so much fun. She loves her cowbell and wearing maroon and white!

Hello Fall! I missed you!

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

It's no secret that Fall is my favorite time of year. I mean, what's not to love?! The crisp mornings, the ever changing color of nature, the comfort food... seriously, I love it all!

I broke out the Fall decorations a few weeks ago for the inside of the house, and we planted mums on the front porch. I still have a few things we need to add, like, pumpkins and some hay. And, AC has the cutest little outfit and I plan to take her picture with the pumpkins and hay in a few weeks.

Until we get the rest of it decorated for her pictures... here is a look at our front porch now. The MSU door hanger was custom made by one of the cutest gift shops nearby. We literally stop in Gifted at last once a week to visit with Paige and Allison.

Maroon Friday

Friday, September 12, 2014

It's no secret that we are huge Mississippi State fans. And, we were so happy to welcome a new little bulldog fan in this world in February. So far, she's watched two games with us screaming and yelling at the TV... and the best part is she LOVES it!

Happy Maroon Friday, y'all!!! Enjoy these pictures we just took a couple of weeks ago in our Mississippi State gear! Oh, and GO DAWGS!

Oh Pizza Hut

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

We've had quite a few experiences with Pizza Hut in the past few years, especially this summer. And each time, Pizza Hut Cares has been wonderful with apologizing and sending us something to make up for the problem.

Last week while my parents were here visiting, we decided to order pizza to be delivered since it was already 7 p.m. They make it so simple online, and have options where I can choose light sauce, etc. And, you pay online so all you have to do is sign when they bring it to your door.

Well, last Thursday night after I placed the order for delivery, the delivery time was around 8:25; which we felt was ridiculous since we literally live over the mountain about five minutes from them. So on my confirmation email it listed a number to call if you had any changes or needed to cancel. Well, we didn't want to cancel, we just decided it was best to go pick up the pizza ourselves. I never spoke to the store, after all, these days you only speak to automated phone services. But after ten minutes of pushing 1, 0, #, and then staying on the line to wait for the next representative... I told them to let our store know I was coming to pick up our order. NOT to deliver it. He said perfect, and your order will be ready in fifteen minutes. Now, that's MUCH better than the hour and a half wait I was given before.

The Mr and I head over to Pizza Hut, and I see my name on the screen and it says, READY! So I give the girl at the counter my name and she tells me how much it will be. I explained to her that I paid online. She then has to get her manager, who decided he wanted to be rude and not explain why I needed to pay now, just kept telling me that I hadn't paid. FINALLY the Mr said something to him, and he calmed down and explained that they don't close out the order until after the pizza is delivered, and since it wasn't being delivered, they canceled my pre-authorization on my card. Why he didn't explain it like that in the first place, I'll never know.

We start to see panic spread on everyone's faces when they start looking for our pizzas. All while the Mr and I are looking at two large boxes with a smaller box for cheese sticks on top of it sitting on the counter to the left of everyone. After about five minutes of everyone whispering and looking all confused, the manager comes to us and tells us his delivery guy has our pizzas and he's in our driveway!! I said no problem, my parents are at home and can sign for them, I'll call them now. My dad answered the phone and he said, there is no one in the driveway, but I'll keep a look out for them. And as soon as I was talking to him about not paying, etc... the manager yells out... FOUND IT. Yep, it was the pizza boxes we were looking at the entire time.

Here's the best part... the manager had already told the girl making the pizzas to make us another round, and it was in the oven. So, he asked us to wait another 8-10 minutes and we would have hot pizzas. And he gave us the original order, too. So needless to say, we had PLENTY of pizza and should have invited the neighbors over. And we still got home and were eating our dinner waaay before our delivery was scheduled to arrive. We were cleaning up the kitchen when I took the pictures below, at 8:32 p.m.

Oh, and we still have pizza leftovers in the fridge! Thanks again Pizza Hut for always making our experiences with you memorable.

Hi again...

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

I feel like I've published this post before, but yet, this is not a repeat. Even if I sound like a broken record. Yes, life has been reoccurring day after day, but that shouldn't be any excuse not to write. After all, writing is something that I love.

I few things have happened since my last "check in"...

• My last living grandparent passed away the middle of August. The last few months of her life she became very sick, and while no ones wants to see a loved one pass over into another life, we all knew it was time. She was ready to meet her maker, and go home. So we spent a few days in Mississippi with our family celebrating her life, and her homecoming.

• Our sweet girl turned six months old! SIX MONTHS OLD, y'all! Where was the time gone? She's weighing in at 21 pounds and 11 ounces. And she's 27.5 inches long! She sits up by herself, waves "bye bye" and laughs the cutest laugh. She thinks her big sister, Marsie Belle, is the funniest thing, next to her daddy, of course! Ganny and Papa have been coming by to see her and spoiling her rotten with kisses and attention, and she eats it up! Her favorite place is outside on our porch, and we can't wait for the weather to turn a little cooler so we can stay out there more!

I have a few other things to share, but I'll save those for another post. And maybe it won't be another month before I sit down and get my thoughts on here.
